If I had a tombstone to impart HR wisdom to future generations I would start here:
If we don’t care about the people in our organization we don’t care about our organization’s future.
If we don’t care that people are treated unfairly we don’t care about our organization’s future.
If we need to invoke a law to justify treating people in a fair and compassionate manner, we don’t care about our organization’s future.
Rudeness is a drug resistant super-bug. When organizations tolerate rudeness, it gains a foothold and slow rot begins.
If you don’t care about your organization’s future then why are you there?
If the people you manage are a nuisance why are you here?
Yes it’s a difficult conversation but you are a manager this why you are paid more.
Don’t stay in the same place doing the same thing day in and day out.
No person or company or job will fix you. That’s what the other 128 hours in the week are for.
None of the above is remarkable but they are some thoughts I’ve had percolating in my brain about HR, organizations and people
What about you? What brief thought or belief would you impart to future generations?
